- Chin Sculpting Treatment uses Fat dissolving injections or deoxycholic acid which is a natural bile acid produced by the body to metabolise fat.
- When injected into the double chin, the fat dissolving formula breaks down the targeted fat cells reducing the fat. This allows the body to naturally eliminate the fat for a permanent sculpted result.
- Before any cosmetic injectable treatment, a complimentary consultation with our doctors or registered cosmetic nurses is necessary. During your consultation, we will evaluate your chin sculpting goals to determine the most suitable treatment option understanding your treatment priorities.
Treatment Day
- The area is marked, which guides us where to put the fat dissolving injections and how much to use. Local anaesthetic is then used to numb up the area. We ice the treatment zone for 60-90 seconds, then inject 25-35 points.
- The treatment is administered through micro-injections of deoxycholic acid directly into the unwanted subcutaneous fat of the targeted areas in the submental (double chin) region.
- When injected into the tissue, the chemical formula destroys the cell membrane, causing lysis. The fat cells then absorb the formula leading to temporary inflammation and hardening before the body naturally breaks down and eliminates them.
- It encourages your body to metabolise and expel the unwanted submental fat tissues, helping you achieve a chiselled jawline.
After Treatment
- The entire procedure is completed in just 10 minutes, and you can expect a one-week recovery period. It’s common to experience swelling and bruising on the following day, which may last for 5 to 8 days.
During Treatment
- Treatment duration can vary from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. To ensure your comfort, a numbing agent will be applied, and we ice treatment zone before administering the injections.
After Treatment
- Immediately after the treatment, your body will begin breaking down the fat cells in the treated area. It’s normal to experience some swelling and bruising, but you can use paracetamol to alleviate any discomfort.
7 Days Prior
- Avoid chemical peels and micro-needling for 7 days prior to treatment on the same area
24 Hours before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol
- Avoid excessive sun exposure
- Refrain from taking over-the-counter medications or multivitamins that may cause blood thinning
- Continue to take any prescribed blood-thinning medications as directed by your GP
- On the day of your appointment, make sure to have a meal and stay well hydrated by increasing your water intake.
Consultation
- All cosmetic injectable treatments require a complimentary consultation with one of our doctors or registered nurses.
- Please advise your clinical cosmetic provider if you are taking any blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin, warfarin or clopidogrel etc.) regardless of whether you’re expecting to have a treatment.
- During consultation, an accurate guide to pre- and post-care recovery is discussed prior to the treatment and a full post-care guide will be provided at your appointment.
Aftercare:
- The treated area may be swollen, red, tender, sensitive or bruised on the day. You may also feel tingling sensation, pressure, and hardness in the treated area. These certain inherent or potential risks are temporary and gradually subside. Use a gentle moisturiser as needed
- Paracetamol can be used for pain relief
- Domestic flights should be avoided for 48 hours post-treatment, and international flights for 2 weeks post-treatment
- Recommend applying revitalising redox gel that is available in the clinic. Will help replenish the moisture barrier, which is essential for healing
- Avoid touching, massaging area for at least 48 hours
- Avoid applying anything on the treated area for at least 8 hours after treatment
- Sleep elevated on your back to help reduce swelling
- Bruising may occur after treatment and can last for up to 3 days -2 weeks. Use Arnica cream to reduce the signs.
- Avoid exercise, sauna, steam rooms, hot showers and spas, prolonged sun exposure and excessive alcohol consumption for 48 hours post-treatment
