Microneedling uses innovative Dermapen™ technology, also known as, ‘skin needling’ or ‘collagen induction therapy’ safely penetrate the surface of the skin. What happens during a Dermapen™ Microneedling Skin treatment?
The Dermapen™ device uses many vibrating, fine needles that create multiple micro-channels in the skin. This treatment uses oscillating micro-needles to create micro-injuries to the skin to encourage the body’s ability to repair the skin, gently gliding over your skin to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which helps to plump, smooth and tighten your skin.
Dermapen™ uses a specialised algorithm treatment protocol to effectively treat various skin conditions. The distinct protocols are designed specifically to address anti-aging concerns integrated with a formulated combination of active ingredient serums unique to each skin concern.
These micro-channels also carry your personalised active vitamin serum that’s chosen to help correct your specific skin concern. Which is applied to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin delivering nourishing nutrients, increasing its effectiveness to remodel and improve ther appearance of your skin.
How Dermapen™ Microneedling treatments work
- The first step involves a thorough cleansing of your face, ensuring it is clean and prepared for the treatment. As an option, as per your request topical local anaesthetic numbing cream will be gently applied to the treatment area, helping to minimise any potential discomfort or sensation during the procedure.
- Afterward, we administer a disinfection solution and apply a specifically designed hyaluronic acid skin serum and (unique to the treatment area, ensuring optimal preparation of the skin for the upcoming procedure

- During treatment, Dermapen™ micro-needling combined active topical ingredients gently glides across the skin in various directions. The device penetrates the skin vertically at different depth tailored to your specific skin concern and the area being addressed. Followed by the application of a formulated cooling peptide infused with an active vitamin serum that is selected specifically to address your individual skin concern. This application is designed to stimulate the skin, while providing a refreshing and soothing sensation to the treated area. There is no discomfort, and many people find the procedure relaxing. Localised bleeding may occur at the treatment site, but it is minimal and normal
What happens after a Dermapen™ Microneedling Skin Treatment?
Immediately after the skin needling treatment, you can return to normal daily activities. it is advisable to avoid strenuous exercise, sun exposure, and alcohol consumption right after the treatment. You may experience mild redness and warmth on the treated skin, which typically subsides within 1 to 2 days.
The choice of delivery options will be depended on the results you are aiming to achieve and will be discussed with you during your consultation prior to procedural treatment
During Treatment
Throughout the procedure, you may experience a gentle pressure and a tingling sensation as the device glides over the targeted area. The treatment process is quick, resulting in minimal and manageable discomfort. It is common to experience a warm sensation and mild tingling, which is normal.
After Treatment
Your skin will feel tender to touch in the area. It is advice to avoid touching the areas for at least 2 hours post-treatment
24 – 48 hours: mild to moderate erythema, mild swelling
1 – 2 days: mild erythema, mild itchiness, tight/dry sensation
2 – 3 days: mild skin flaking, dry sensation
3 – 4 days: slight dryness
4-7 days: full recovery

Avoid waxing and sunburn to the treatment area for 2 weeks prior.

As a precaution we do not recommend Dermapen™ Microneedling for those using certain acne medication or for women who are pregnant

Avoid heat induced activities, including:
- Steam rooms and saunas
- Swimming pools
- Excessive exercise
You may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after a professional procedure. Most people can return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of Redox Revitalising Gel calms redness for an immediate return to your daily activities.
Day 1-3
- Avoid active skincare ingredients. Use a gentle cleanser, hyaluronic acid, moisturiser, and SPF.
- A non-occlusive mineral make-up may be used to conceal any redness

Number of treatments for optimal results
While a single session can provide satisfactory results. As a general guideline to Dermapen™ Microneedling skin treatments, a course of 3-6 treatment sessions is required spaced 2-6 weeks apart for optimal results. During consultation will determine the best course of action and the number of treatments recommended.
Results may vary depending on the condition of the skin being treated, as for example advanced scarring may require additional treatments. Additional treatments may be required depending on skin condition, lifestyle factors, treatment area size and your desired expectation. Nonetheless, improvement should be expected after each treatment.
As Microneedling triggers the skin’s natural healing mechanisms, visible improvement will appear around 2-4 weeks post-procedure. The repair cascade may continue for up to 24 months after a course of 3-6 treatments. Multiple sessions provide progressive stimulation to further enhance results and longevity.

What’s Microneedling?
Microneedling is a sought-after skin renewal procedure that visibly improves a wide range of concerns. Is treatment with the Dermapen painful?
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 15-30 minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain free.
How long should it take before I see results with the Dermapen?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). Your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments and when combined with the recommended post treatment care.
Is there any downtime after treatments with the Dermapen?
Generally, no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people can return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of a bioactive mask will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work.
How soon after filler/anti-wrinkle injections can I have a Dermapen Treatment?
It is recommended to wait at least 14 days after filler injections, so that any post treatment bruising from the fillers can settle. It is also possible to have your Dermapen treatment several days before having fillers injected. Consult with us prior to determine exactly how long a wait is best in each particular case
How often can I have microneedling done?
There are proven protocol guidelines for each skin concern for Dermapen microneedling treatments. These are developed to give the skin enough time to recover between procedures, which is when rejuvenation occurs.
